We are a small business from Singapore (Eczema Mitten Private Limited) established in 2022, dedicated to providing specialized eczema sleepwear to our customers.
We understand that eczema can be a difficult and frustrating experience, which is why we are here to help.
Our Story
Eczema Mitten was founded by Reuben in 2022. He has been suffering from Eczema since birth and had Topical Steroid Withdrawal. His Eczema is now well managed and he is still healing from TSW.
Reuben's Eczema Journey
I've had eczema since birth and topical steroid withdrawal (TSW) a few years ago.
As a fellow eczema sufferer, I know the struggles of trying so many treatments and feeling like nothing works.
Western doctors offered me allergy/patch testing, steroid cream, phototherapy and was even offered oral immunosuppressants and biologic injections.
Meanwhile Chinese doctors offered bitter drinks, acupuncture and even blood letting.
Naturopaths offered sensitivity (IgG) testing, elimination diets and gut health supplements like probiotics.
But all of that didn't work, and I took a turn for the worst.
I Was Hospitalized For 3 Months
The worst point came when I caught Eczema Herpeticum (Herpes) and was hospitalized from Dec 2017 to Feb 2018.
The doctors said the infection had almost reached my bloodstream.
If I came any later, the infection could have been life threatening.
That was when I knew I had to cure my eczema once and for all.
I tried multiple treatments like No Moisturizing Treatment, which improved my TSW and controlling my diet, which helped with healing Eczema.
Breaking The Itch Scratch Cycle
To reduce the damage from scratching in sleep, I tried makeshift solutions like wearing cotton gloves and restraining my hands to the bedpost.
However, even with multiple layers of cotton gloves, they became rough and broke within a few days.
Similarly, the hand restraints were uncomfortable and didn't allow me to scratch at all.
I had to find a way to satisfy the itch yet not cause as much damage when scratching.
That was when I decided to experiment with materials and the final result is Eczema Mittens - built for eczema sufferers.
